How To Dress For A Mardi Gras Ball In 2020

Mardi Gras is no doubt, a big deal in the South. If you don’t believe me you should check it out for yourself!

Most people that know of Mardi Gras think of it as just a bunch of parades, floats, candy, and bead tossing.

Lots of people drinking and partying on the streets…

Well you’re not entirely wrong about any of the above at all. But, there is much more to Mardi Gras besides all of that.

Now it depends on where you decide to partake in your Mardi Gras festivities.

You can choose either Mobile, Alabama where Mardi Gras originated and have all the fun you would expect, but you’ll find that it is just a little more family oriented.

Or…

You can be entertained by the popular and most famous New Orleans, Louisiana Mardi Gras vibes in the street.

Another tradition that most may not know about, are the Mardi Gras Balls that are held during the carnival season around the gulf.

These Krewes (societies) have Kings and Queens that work throughout the entire year for these big, extravagant balls.

Most of the balls are private and formal events.

However, there are balls that are open to the public.

I had the pleasure of experiencing my first Mardi Gras ball this year. The Second Liners Ball in Mobile, Alabama and I must say I had a wonderful time.

This being my first Mardi Gras ball, I didn’t know what to wear, or what to expect. Some balls have different themes and include concerts, food, and indoor parades lumped into one huge event.

For some balls the attire is anywhere from cocktail dresses to ball gowns so be sure to know the dress code for whichever ball you decide to participate in.

Here are a few looks that could for sure help you with your journey towards a magnificent Mardi Gras ball experience.

You can never go wrong with a Strapless A- line dress, and this one does not disappoint! It’s just beautiful.
